SWIM TEAM INFORMATION

West Mifflin proudly sponsors both a middle school (JV) and high school (Varsity) swimming program for students in 7th through 12th grades.

Our middle school team competes in September and October every year, and our varsity season runs November through February, plus WPIAL and PIAA Championships (for those qualifying) and various off season opportunities.

South Hills Aquatics Team, a community competitive team for all ages, also practices Mondays through Thursdays throughout the school year from 5-7 PM.

From 2011-2014 West Mifflin was represented at PIAA Championships each year and was represented again in 2016, and boasts a back-to-back WPIAL Champion in the Boys’ 100 Yard Butterfly for 2013 and 2014, as well as a 2014 WPIAL Champion in the 100 back! Brad also went on to finish second in the state of Pennsylvania in the 100 fly in 2014! Brad is now off representing us at Westminster (still a Titan!), as so many of our athletes go on to represent us at the collegiate level.

The Girls’ Team was also the 2015-2016 Section Champions, making them back-to-back-to-back-to-back (4-PEAT!) section champs!!

South Hills Aquatics Team also practices at West Mifflin’s aquatic facility, a developmental community team for children ages 5-18 that can successfully swim one length (25 yards) of the pool unassisted. From the basic fundamentals of the four competitive strokes to advanced sprint and distance swimmers, SHAQ works to help each child achieve their highest potential.

The swimmers compete in Allegheny Mountain Swimming, which is a division of USA Swimming. In the past several years, SHAQ has had several different athletes represent them at the Zones Meet, which is an all-star meet in which the top athletes are chosen from each zone (AMS). This is a huge honor!
