Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Stays Alive

The Varsity boys soccer team keeps their hopes alive with a 3-1 win at Gateway.

Coming into the game the Titans have only won 3section games. Now with 4 section wins they have to defeat the #2 and #3 team in the section who are both ranked top 5 in AAA. These are South Fayette and TJ.

How It Happened:

The first half saw chances for both teams. Hunter Huber came up with some big saves for the Titans and Sam Alexander for the Gators.

Johns had a breakaway with 3 seconds left on the clock and Alexander came out of the box to make a possible game saving tackle.

The game was scoreless at the half.

About 10 minutes into the half Mason Bayless gave the Titans a 1-0 lead.

3 minutes after that Bayless won the ball and Shawn Miller ended up with it a scored a screamer from 25 yards out to put the Titans up 2-0.

With 15 minutes left the Gators finally got on the board. Titans had some miscommunication in the back and gave up a weak own goal.

The WM Student Athlete of the month (sponsored by Mulligans)  proved himself tonight. Zach Johns scored a beautiful goal to put the Titans up 3-1 with about 5 minutes left. He came up the left flank and beat the outside back. He then ripped a shot and hit the crossbar and down.
